Which product is the strongest?
All of Gent-L-Kleen’s heavy-duty hand cleaners and soaps are strong, effective products on their targeted soils. See our Soil Guide to select the right product for proper soil removal.

Which product is the fastest working?
Lotion hand cleaners tend to work the fastest. Gent-L-Kleen has several lotion hand cleaners including Citrus Lotions, Orange Lotions, Advantage® HD, Turbo™ Cherry, Soy Blast™ and Ultra Zapper™.

What is a waterless hand cleaner?
A waterless hand cleaner is a product that does not require the use of water. In fact if used, water should not be applied until AFTER the product is applied to hands. Waterless hand cleaners typically use some type of emulsified solvent system. The formula may be based on a petroleum solvent, synthetic solvent or d-Limonene.

What is a "solvent"?
A solvent is a substance that can dissolve another substance. Water is considered the "universal solvent". When used in many industries, "solvent" has come to represent petroleum-based materials, like mineral spirits or kerosene. Therefore products claiming to be "solvent free" may contain d-limonene or other non-petroleum solvents. Gent-L-Kleen’s Smooth and Pumicized Citrus Lotion Hand Cleaners, Orange Lotion Hand Cleaners, Soy Blast™ Hand Cleaner, Premium Blue™ Hand & Body Soap and GLK-55™ Heavy-Duty Hand Soap do not contain any petroleum-based solvents. Power Wipes® Formula 2 Hand Cleaner Towels and Ultra Power Wipes® Formula 2 Hand Scrubber Towels are 100% solvent-free!

 
What is d-Limonene?
D-Limonene is the oil derived during citrus fruit processing. It is more expensive than petroleum solvents. While many other citrus products in the market combine d-limonene with a petroleum solvent, Gent-L-Kleen's Citrus Hand Cleaners use NO petroleum solvents.

What are dibasic esters?
Dibasic esters (referred to as DBE’s) are a group of safe solvents found to be extremely effective on paints, adhesives and sealants.

What does VOC mean?
VOC stands for volatile organic compounds. The VOC emission levels of various products are being regulated in California and other states and are an important environmental issue. Every Gent-L-Kleen hand cleaner is VOC-compliant.

What is pumice?
Pumice is ground volcanic stone. It is used in hand cleaning products and to aid in removing difficult soils. It is also used in many consumer products such as cosmetic creams as an exfolient. Gent-L-Kleen uses only fine-ground, cosmetic-grade, American pumice.

What are the microscrubbers used in GLK-55™?
Microscrubbers are used in our GLK-55™ Heavy-Duty Hand Cleaner as an alternative to pumice. They are manufactured, very small, plastic beads that aid in the product’s cleaning ability.

Will pumice or microscrubbers clog my sewer line or septic system?
No clogging should occur when used as directed.

What is a bacteriostat?
A bacteriostat is added to products to inhibit bacterial growth.

What about skin conditioning?
All of Gent-L-Kleen's hand care products contain at least 5 skin conditioners. Our premium products, such as Original and Pumicized Gent-L-Kleen® and Smooth and Pumicized Citrus Lotion, Turbo Cherry™, Premium Blue™ and Soy Blast™ contain a minimum of 6 skin conditioners and 3 vitamins for advanced conditioning. Why should I avoid the use of hand cleaner products containing silicone in my paint shop?
Small deposits of silicone can be transferred from the fingers to prepared surfaces. When paint is applied to the surface, "fish-eyes" can form because the paint does not adhere properly. Silicone is not used in any Gent-L-Kleen product.

Why do some of Gent-L-Kleen’s products have a HMIS Health rating of "1" on the Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS)?
A rating of "1" indicates a minimal health risk. Gent-L-Kleen elects to use this rating to indicate the potential for eye irritation, should the product splash or be rubbed into the eyes. This irritation is typical of soap and detergent ingredients found in many products.

What is your hand cleaner and soap guarantee?
All hand cleaners and soap manufactured by Gent-L-Kleen carry a shelf-life guarantee of one year from date of purchase from Gent-L-Kleen. If deteriorated product is found, it should be returned to the place of purchase. Gent-L-Kleen should then be notified by the original purchaser to determine if the product is under warranty.

What is your dispenser guarantee?
Gent-L-Kleen’s stock nos. 0-4511, 0-7110, 0-1600 and 0-5000 dispensers all come with lifetime guarantees against manufacturing defects.

How do I get a broken dispenser repaired?
If the dispenser is one guaranteed by Gent-L-Kleen, return it postage-paid for a no- charge repair or replacement to: GENT-L-KLEEN PRODUCTS, INC, 3445 Board Road, York, PA 17406.

How can I get free dispensers?
Gent-L-Kleen has a free dispenser program based on the total number of employees at a user’s location and the number of hand cleaner cases purchased. Contact your Gent-L-Kleen distributor or go to Contact GLK and complete the General Inquiry Form to request the details.

Will other containers fit the 0-5000 dispenser?
No. Gent-L-Kleen’s Dispenser-Mate® 5000 Dispensing System is a patented design. The 4000-ml refill tank sold by Gent-L-Kleen is the only container designed to fit this dispenser.

Will the 4000-ml tank fit dispensers other than the 0-5000?
In addition to our Dispenser-Mate® 5000 Dispensing System dispenser, stock no. 0-5000, our custom 4000-ml tank fits our disposable, pump-top dispenser, stock no. 0-2270; all versions of Zep® Manufacturing’s D4000 dispensers; and Arjem’s flat-top gallon dispenser.

Are any of your products considered HAZMAT?
As an aerosol product, the shipment of Skin Armor™ Barrier Foam is regulated by the Department of Transportation as a hazardous material. All other Gent-L-Kleen products are not hazardous to ship.

How do you sell against the competition?
We sell our high quality, stable products priced competitively with dependable delivery and unique systems that save money. The added value that we provide more than offsets the small added cost for Gent-L-Kleen’s quality.

As a distributor, how best can I sell to an end user?
The distributor must first determine what product the user is currently using and then suggest a substitute product (i.e. citrus product with citrus product, pumice product with pumice product, lotion product with lotion product). Demonstrating the product is very effective. Selling the products conditioning ability with 5 skin conditioners is also important. We have found 30-day trial sales to be very successful. If a distributor salesperson sells a system backed by a Gent-L-Kleen 30-day money-back guarantee to the user, there is no risk. The user witnesses first hand the product's effectiveness and the product sells itself. Additionally, there are great sales tools available. Do you have voice mail?
YES! However, there is nothing better than the personal touch. Therefore, you will only be directed to voice mail if all lines are busy or the office is closed for holidays or inclement weather.

What are your hours of operation?

Gent-L-Kleen Products is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 to 5:00 EST. The office is closed to celebrate Good Friday, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day and New Year's Day holidays. Gent-L-Kleen operates with limited staff the day after Thanksgiving and the week between Christmas and New Years Day.

Do you offer plant tours?
Gent-L-Kleen’s doors are open between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM Eastern Standard Time. Although we do not have organized tours, we would be happy to give a personal tour. Just call our office to make the arrangements.
